Degradable plastics refer to the plastics that are easy to degrade in the natural environment due to the decrease of stability when a certain amount of additives (such as starch, modified starch or other cellulose, photosensitizer, biodegradable agent, etc.) are added in the production process.

Advantages: environmental protection and hygiene - degradable plastic is generally considered to be a kind of plastic that can be decomposed into low molecular substances by solar radiation or microorganisms in soil. In addition to its degradability, it should also have the properties that are easy to process and meet the use requirements. The harm of sunlight to polymer materials is the combined effect of ultraviolet light and oxygen, so it is called photooxidative degradation. In the case of polyolefins, photooxidation often leads to chain breaking or cross-linking of polymers, accompanied by the formation of some oxygen-containing functional groups, such as ketones, carboxylic acids, peroxides and alcohols. The degradation mainly comes from the catalyst residues in the polymer, and the initiation of peroxide and carbonyl introduced in the processing.
